Land Drainage Consents
Obtaining planning permission does not imply that a Board licence or consent
will be granted.
If the proposed development involves any of the categories listed below, licence
or consent may be required and the Drainage Board must be consulted prior to the
commencement of site works.

- Interference with land drainage by construction or modification of any obstruction to the flow of watercourses (Land Drainage Act 1991)
- Erection of any buildings, structure, fences or planting trees or other growths within 7 metres of the top of an Internal Drainage Board watercourse (Land Drainage Act 1991)
- Discharge of surface water to any watercourse within the District (Land Drainage Byelaws)
- Discharge of surface water via soakaways (Land Drainage Byelaws)

- Filling in or culverting of any watercourse (Land Drainage Act 1991)
- Clearance or desludging of dams or weirs (Land Drainage Act 1991)
- Raising of ground levels in flood plains (Land Drainage Act 1991)
- Constructing bridges, laying cables over and pipes under an internal drainage board watercourse (Land Drainage Act 1991)
- Construction of any watercourse within the drainage district (Land Drainage Act 1991)
